ABOUT THE COURSE
This course is taught by Zeina A. Grifoni, a licensed physical therapist, Pilates instructor, and movement and rehab specialist. She is the owner of Synergy+ Physical Therapy & Pilates Studio in San Rafael, CA and in Locarno, Switzerland. Zeina has been teaching Pilates certification courses since 2005.
The rehab course is virtual and conducted on Zoom. It is made up of 6 main modules and 2 workshops. What you will learn in each module and workshop is described in detail below. For those seeking to become certified in using Pilates for rehabilitation, there is a written and a practical exam after each module. You can do each module separately or take the full course. Full certification is reached when all modules’ written and practical examinations have been successfully completed.
This course has been created specifically for Pilates instructors who work with clients coming from rehab or who have an injury. It teaches practical applications you can use right away to help your clients.
Specifically, in each module you will learn:
✅ The most common issues, injuries, and surgeries that your clients may have
✅ The contra-indications (what not to do) with clients with these specific diagnoses
✅ Mostly you will learn what Pilates exercises you can do and the exercise progression for each stage of your clients’ recovery
Each module has the following outline:
✅ Anatomy review
✅ Lectures about each common diagnosis
✅ Review of the characteristics of clients walking in with these diagnoses
✅ Demonstration of the recommended exercises to use for each diagnosis. You will learn how to use these exercises and what aspects of each exercise actually help each specific client
✅ Review of case studies. You will learn how to put all the pieces together to help your clients
