GINA HAGEN

Hi, I am Gina, the front desk manager at Synergy+. I started out as a client of Zeina's about a decade ago and have been incredibly grateful for Zeina's expertise and to get to know firsthand the benefits of Pilates. Last year I began training with Zeina to be a Pilates Instructor. Additionally, I have been working with her assisting with her virtual physical therapy sessions. I am delighted to be a part of the Synergy+ family and look forward to being here to support you.

Furthermore, I am now also getting the Pilates Instructor Certification from Zeina A. Grifoni here at Synergy+. I have completed all the course work and I am eager and available to teach privates. LAURA WINNER

Hello!! I am an orthopedic physical therapist and utilize manual techniques with functional exercise to help people return to their favorite activities.  I have a special interest in incorporating the principles and exercises of Pilates where appropriate or when people are interested. Since having children, I have also realized how foundational the pelvic floor is to our stability and movement, and I have undergone specialized training at the Herman Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute in treating women for dysfunction in this area. I am passionate about helping women recover from problems that too many suffer from in silence.

In addition, I make it a point to look at the person as a whole, and not just a body part.  This includes identifying body alignment, muscle imbalances, as well as how each individual uses their body so I can  address all the issues that may be contributing to an injury and facilitate healing.

I love my job because I get to spend my day helping people get back to doing what they love.

I graduated from USC in 2011 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Since then I have been working within the outpatient orthopedic setting helping patients with both conservative treatment approaches and post-operative rehab.

My favorite thing to do is explore the Bay Area with my family.   During my free time, I enjoy trying new restaurants or attending a great Pilates and/or Yoga class.

ZEINA GRIFONI

Hello, I am Zeina Grifoni, Master of Physical Therapy and Nationally certified Pilates Instructor. I like to consider myself a movement specialist. My strength is in evaluating a situation and correcting faulty patterns to restore movement, decrease pain, and restore function. I feel honored to be able to help others through my work and am passionate about reaching a greater population of people who need help.

My journey started in my youth as a water polo player, scuba diver, aerial artist, runner, and cyclist and my love of movement lead me into the world of rehabilitation. I received an undergraduate degree in psychology at UC Davis and my Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California in 2003, as well as my Pilates Instructor Certification with Ellie Herman in 2004.

I opened my own practice, Synergy + Physical Therapy and Pilates Studio, in California in 2005 and in Ticino, Switzerland in 2020, in order to create an ideal environment for the healing and wellness of my clients.

My main focus is Pilates-based orthopedic care including sports rehab, chronic pain, hyper mobility spectrum disorders and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, pre and post-natal rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation, pre and post-op care, and overall health and wellness.

I continue to offer Pilates Instructor training courses and multiple continuing education courses for Physical Therapists and Pilates practitioners to share knowledge and provide movement to the world!

Since 2020, I have lived in Locarno, Switzerland, where I opened Synergy+' satellite studio.
